Online Roulette

Roulette appears to be a very simple game for the average person to play, but the variety of bets and strategies actually make Roulette one of the most difficult games to play within casinos. The average person tends to think there are only a few possible combinations of bets that can take place, but this not true. And although luck is prevalent, Roulette can be just as profitable as it is exciting.

Types of Roulette Bets

There are two main varieties of bets that players can make in Roulette, inside and outside bets.  Inside bets include bets that a single number will be landed on, or a group of numbers depending on their position. Outside bets include bets on groupings of pockets, pocket colors, and odd or even bets.

Inside bets are placed on specific numbers of combinations depending on layout and certain lingo is used for these different types. A “Straight up” bet is placed on one number that will be thought to hit and the bet should be placed within the middle of that number’s square on the betting table. A “Split” bet is between two adjoining numbers on the betting table and the chip is place halfway between each number.

A “Street” bet is a bet on a horizontal row on the betting table, and it should be placed on the arrow at the end of each row. A “Corner” bet is placed on the + that is made by four connecting numbers on the betting table, in hopes that one of those four numbers will be rolled. The last inside bet is a “Trio” bet that is placed on the intersection of the 0, 1 and 2 or the 0, 2 and 3.

Outside bets are slightly easier and usually pay less profitable odds, but are more likely to occur. These bets include the 1 to 18 bets, 19 to 36 bets, red or black bet, and even or odd bet. A dozen bet is made by betting that the first dozen (1 to 12), second dozen (13 to 24), or the third dozen (25 to 36) will be rolled. Column bets are made by betting that one of the three columns will hit on the betting table the first of which being 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, 28, 31, 34.

Roulette House Edge

The house gains its edge in Roulette by the 0 or 00 that is placed on the Roulette table. French style roulette tables have one 0 and American style tables have a 0 and 00 pocket on the wheel. The house advantage then for the French Style is 2.70% and American style tables have an advantage of 5.26%, making French style tables much more profitable for casino players.

Roulette Strategies

Many players have attempted different strategies and theories to win on Roulette tables along with other casino games, but most are substantially flawed. Some of these different systems include the Martingale System, and The Dopey Experiment. The Martingale system is used by many players which allows players to make bets that reward a 2 to 1 payout. If the bet is lost then plays will double their next bet, this allows them to win back their original bet or last consecutive bets along with a profit of $1. However if the 2 to 1 never hits then the player could reach the house limit or lose their entire bankroll before winning back the original bets and the $1 profit.

Luck

So although Roulette can be played through a variety of different systems, luck is the most prevalent factor in play. It is important to make valuable bets that are in positive odds, but luck will always affect you, so good luck!
